October is very special to me since one of the traditions I enjoy the most is Halloween. Originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts, Halloween eventually evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes, eating treats and watching spooky movies.
How about having a Plastic-Free Halloween, with compliments from Beyond Plastics?
And if you really want to watch a real scary movie, I invite you to watch The Birds, from the Defenders of Wild Life organization.
Our next i3C exhibit, “Regenerating Earth”, is opening this week! The group exhibit of i3C Artists and Guests, curated by Krisanne Baker, will be on view from Oct 17 to Nov 8, 2024, at the Higgins Gallery, Cape Cod Comm. College, Tilden Arts Center, 2240 Iyannough Rd, West Barnstable, MA. My work, “Origins”, will be on view!
I hope you can join us at our Opening Reception this Thursday, Oct 17 (2-4:30 pm), at the Higgins Gallery.
We are also excited to present a Webinar (online) on Thursday Nov 7 (3:30-4:30 pm). Krisanne Baker, Cedric Harper, CJ Lori, and Yulia Shtern will join me to present about our art, the group and our mission. If you join, you will know more about my “Origins” piece: about the making of it and the inspiration that guided me to it. Please register for the webinar here.
More info at i3Cartists.com and https://www.capecod.edu/higgins/.
Until next time!
Image: Origins (detail), acrylic, acrylic pen, ink pen, water-soluble crayons, thread, and electronic spare parts (capacitors) on corrugated cardboard, 19.5 x 7.75 x 1.75 inches, available. Best of luck with "Regenerating Earth" and the Webinar and all of your other art and activities, Adriana! I wish we did not have such a huge geographical distance between us, which makes it impossible for me to attend your exhibitions.
