Today I want to share about some new directions my art has taken. I have been inspired by dreams and I have been creating more work with repurposed fabric. It is fascinating that my art news below relates to recent works executed directly as a response to an unusual “call” to which I was invited to.
I am so excited that one of my textile works, inspired by a dream and titled "Think Something” is part of a collaborative initiative, Dream Map Project, conceived by artists Sofie Dieu and Gaelle Chassery, who mapped dreams worldwide made with embroidery, appliqué, and stitching, and assembled them to form a dream map.
The Dream Map Project has been selected for the “Threads - Tangles / Detangles” exhibition (Naarm Textile Collective) at the Glen Eira City Gallery in Victoria, Australia, from March 14th to April 6th, 2025.
You can read Gaelle’s blog post to learn more about my work here.
I am thrilled that my “Mapping Them” will be part of the Bait/Switch: Affect & Cause, a survey of artworks from the interdisciplinary call-and-response art publication Bait/Switch, at ShowUp (Boston MA), from February 21st to March 2nd, 2025
There will also be a virtual artist talk, that I will be part of, where we will talk about our experiences working across time, space, and artistic disciplines on Thursday, February 27th, at 7 PM via zoom. Register here.
On other news, next week I will be speaking about art, working with repurposed materials, and environmental activism to a class of middle schoolers interested in Visual Arts, Advanced Spanish, and Current Events. In difficult times, it is inspiring to keep sharing our humble contributions to some of the solutions so desperately needed to continue to save nature and our minds.
Until next time!
